Hemal Patel is the founder and director of HeadSprung. Having studied manufacturing engineering at Loughbourgh University, followed by Design, Manufacture and Management at Cambridge University he began his early career in manufacturing as a process improvement engineer for a large multi-national. Though he enjoyed his time there he soon yearned for a more creative role, one that involved the design and development of new products. So, he left his job and started up HeadSprung as a vehicle to explore new ideas. Hemal believes that successful, progressive design comes for a holistic consideration of the supply chain, from cradle-to-cradle. He believes that a product's success is determined by its manufacturability, desirability, visibility and accessibility, and these are four factors against which he assess all the products he designs.
