Achica invited me in to have a look round their nest. It’s ruffled a whole part of my being I had forgotten about. I’d fallen into the clutches of viewing home design as intimidating, but today I left knowing I secretly love it, and have strong ideas about what I like. With Achica I especially like the fact you can get your talons on lovely, unusual, stand out things at fabulous discounts. Today I managed to sort out a huge proportion of my Christmas shopping in one owl-like swoop.
Achica homeware is described as a ‘members only luxury lifestyle store’. It features different designers for a set period of time so there are always new products and discounts. It covers home, children, electrical, food and drink, furniture, art and design, travel. I wasn’t as intimidated by Achica as I have been by other designer sites, the prices seem reasonable and the products are practical but striking.
This week I spotted some fabulous Science Museum kits and lots of great craft kits, perfect children’s presents and stocking fillers. I like this Science Museum Solar System Mobile £14.50 reduced from £24.95 which glows in the dark.
There are lots of smaller pieces on Achica that make great gifts. The Banksy storage jar is £7.99 reduced from £15.99. This design has sold out after it was featured in some magazine and broadsheets, but there are other designs to snap up, I would probably go for the one of the maid sweeping up crumbs? Very appropriate for the kitchen too.
I’m also drawn to Keith Brymer Jones’ pair of ‘love’ bucket mugs £13 reduced from £20. I just love how little the labels are. I love the spicy mix of coconut, vanilla and black pepper in the Heyland and Whitte candle, £7.99.
I wouldn’t pay £45 for a cushion, but I would entertain £25, especially when it has an owl on, Owl Print Cushion by Bloomingdale £25. I also love the jewellery Achica have this week, this Studio Silver Owl on a Branch necklace is £52 reduced from £95.
Due to the way Achica orders to meet demand, delivery takes longer than other stores, but there is still plenty of time to order for Christmas and products are clearly labelled in terms of Christmas delivery availability.
Disclosure – I was given a voucher to spend at Achica for the purposes of this review.
