Miss L and I had a fab time at Nottingham John Lewis, with Amanda from The Ana Mum Diary, Jen from Love Chic Living and Lucy from Mummy Lish, and their girls. We were invited to preview, and even try on, the new Somerset by Alice Temperley Collection for John Lewis, ahead of it hitting the store this week.
The Somerset by Alice Temperley Womenswear collection has been the fastest selling John Lewis has ever seen. It is no surprise given Temperley’s coveted designs cost thousands of pounds in boutiques. Her collection for John Lewis brings the designer’s iconic pieces into the realms of affordability. Temperley grew up in Somerset, so the range is equally at home in a relaxed country setting as in the city.
Miss L poses with Miss D from Lish Concepts. Miss L set her heart on a leather jacket last time we went shopping but I wasn’t sure whether it was right for her age or not. This black military jacket from the Somerset Girl has all the drama of a leather jacket, the shiny buttons immediately caught L’s magpie eye.
It retails at £40 which for a designer piece of children’s wear is very reasonable. It also comes in adult sizes, as you can see from Amanda and Miss A’s mini-me shot below. The fun thing about the Somerset by Alice Temperley collection, is the mini-me possibilities.
I fell in love with the acorn print dress below (£160), it is a great cut, with pockets which I love, and could be dressed up or down. I know I would wear it again and again. I borrowed Miss E of Love Chic Living to pose with as my daughter was too busy taking the photographs. (She is a mini blogger me).
You can’t see in this pic by Miss L, but Miss E has the skirt to match my dress. I love the glittery jumper she is wearing and there are grown up versions. They would make perfect Christmas jumpers.
Miss D below, is wearing the Somerset Spot Dress which is £40. Her very glamourous Mummy Lish is wearing a grown up Alice Temperley dress, perfect for Christmas and New Year parties
Jen was the one to pull off this super slick leather skirt and lace blouse, and the fab yellow leather purse which caught all the girls’ attention.
Purses and bags again come in under the £200 mark, which given the hefty tags on designer IT bags makes a bit of designer arm candy much more accessible. The blouses in the collection are really beautiful pieces, very flattering and again can be dressed up or down.
We all fell in love with something else too. Lucy Knight is the Personal Stylist at John Lewis Nottingham. She is so passionate about clothes, about finding things that suit, about having fun with clothes. She made us all feel very at home and we learnt lots about the Somerset by Alice Temperely collection. I know Jen and Amanda have made the most of the personal stylist service Lucy offers, and having spent the morning with Lucy I would say go for it, whatever your budget or clothing dilemma, Lucy is the one to solve it. She’s fab with kids too.
Thanks to John Lewis for a lovely breakfast and trying on session!
