Last year, at World Travel Market, I bumped into Manuela, part of the lovely family who own Hotel Touring Bologna, Italy. Hotel Touring is the only hotel in Bologna with a hot tub on the roof terrace, and what a roof terrace, overlooking this charming city. The unique terrace is often what first grabs people’s attention, but having now visited, there are so many things that make this boutique hotel a wonderful home from home.
On Wednesday I shared my trip to the antiques market in Bologna, today I want to share the hotel with you. You can tell this is a family run hotel, arriving felt like being welcomed into the family, the welcome is warm and attention to detail is great. Manuela, Georgia and Matteo suggested some great things for me to do in the city by email befoehand, and each day there was a friendly little note in our room with reminders about reservations or bookings they had made.
Hotel Touring Bologna
Knowing I was interested in interiors, Manuela took me on a tour to share the newest rooms. I love the modern simplicity of London above, and New York below.
The bathroom tiles were stunning too. I didn’t have great light, but I love this picture from the Hotel’s Facebook.
The Diamond Suite is gorgeous, perfect for a romantic break, as it has a balcony overlooking the hills, which I will share the view of in a moment.
And a lovely, airy bathroom. Black and white is so stylish.
My friend and I stayed in this room, which had a balcony and a gorgeous view over the city.
The Roof Terrace
Hotel Touring’s amazing roof terrace is an inspired place for a coffee or an aperitif. You can be sure whatever you order, it will be served with something tasty. I loved these biscotti, but I also enjoyed some little pastries with my red wine on another occasion. This is the view as the sun sets, similar to what you will see from the Diamond room. The hot tub is behind the trellis, to the left.
This is the view across the city, stunning isn’t it? Lots more pictures here.
I don’t think I have felt as at home in a hotel before, I felt welcomed into the family and the city. It was a magical trip, travelling with a friend gave me some much needed headspace from family life, the roof terrace especially was wonderful place to reflect on 2015, before moving on. Hotel Touring Bologna will always have a special place in my heart.
Get the Look
Just a few of the pieces from Hotel Touring’s London room you can shop at Wayfair. There’s lots for New York and lots of other cities too, which has me thinking about travel themed rooms. What cityy would you theme a room after?
