5 sources of home and interior inspiration

Are you attempting some DIY projects this year, or making over a room? Where do you turn to for ideas? Today we are sharing 5 top sources of home and interior inspiration – let us know which are your favourites!

5 sources of home and interior inspiration

Public spaces

I love seeing what is happening in public spaces like bars, cafes, theatres, art galleries and shops. Apart from people watching, they are great places to watch trends emerging and see innovative ideas in action. Especially if you have a taste for more unusual ideas.

Pinterest

Is a wonderful source of inspiration for homes. It’s essentially a search engine, and the people who create and pin things to Pinterest tend to be very creative types, so the quality of visual inspiration is much higher than you will find on Google.

Creating your own boards is also really easy if you want to save and collect ideas for a particular room.

Instagram

Is a fabulous place to nosy round real homes for ideas. hashtags work well here – have a look through some of these to find accounts you might want to follow, or just for a browse.

Blogs

Home and Interior Bloggers

Blogs can be a wonderful source of real home inspiration, why not have a browse through some of the UK’s Top Interior and Home Bloggers in this post I produced?

Magazines

Even in the digital age, I still think magazines are a great source of inspiration, when it comes to seeing achieveable and aspirational real home features. Sometimes the whole of the internet is just too much choice and a narrowed down, curated magazine version with a cup of tea can be just the thing to reinspire me.

There seems to be a wider selection of publications these days spanning all decorating budgets. I’m currently a big fan of Home Style, it’s great fun, packed with real homes (many of them bloggers I’ve come to know) and there are always crafty tutorials and great home hacks too. Plus at £1.80 it is a bargain.

I still love to chop up magazines and create collages, the internet is great, but you can’t beat a real, touchable mood board.

What inspires you home improvement projects? Have you got anything planned? We’d love to hear more.
