Cinco de Mayo is a Spanish phrase that translates to, "Fifth of May", and the holiday originally commemorated the unlikely victory of the Mexican army at the Battle of Puebla, but the day is now most commonly known as a day for celebrating Mexican traditions and heritage all over the world.​So on that note, why not get your friends and family together for your own Cinco de Mayo party? Here are a few fun ideas for bringing the feeling of a Mexican fiesta into your home...

On the Bar:

Margaritas—Don't forget to add rock salt on the rim of your margarita glasses!

Tip: Add a fun flavour to your margaritas like strawberry, cucumber or blood orange for an unexpected twist.

Micheladas—Mix beer, lime juice, tomato or clamato juice to make this Mexican bloody Mary.

Watermelon Agua Fresca—blend watermelon, lime juice, sugar and ice and pour for this cooling classic.

On the Table:

Cinco de Mayo is an excuse to let loose so feel free to go bold with your colour scheme! Infuse your look with vibrant pinks, greens, blues and yellows by incorporating brightly coloured paper decorations and vibrant floral décor into your party scheme. There's no wrong answer when it comes to the Cinco de Mayo colour palette, so find your favourite hues and bring them to life with fun scatter cushions or a vibrant rug. If the sun is making an appearance, bring the fiesta into the garden and relax with a margarita in the shade of an umbrella or let your guests go a little loco trying to break open a piñata!
