Throw This Party: Indoor Bank Holiday
We’ve gathered some fresh ideas for taking advantage of your day off
Spring is in the air and with that comes beloved Bank Holidays and May Day festivities! Originally symbolising the end of winter, Bank Holidays now offer the perfect opportunity to spend time celebrating with family & friends. Even though we're all hoping the sun will make an appearance for the big day, we've gathered a few fun ideas for making the most of your Bank Holiday, no matter the weather.
On the Table:
Create a fresh feel with neutral furnishings and bright pops of colour, then get your home in gear for spring with fresh or artificial floral arrangements.
No sun? No problem! Bring the warmth of summer indoors with festive bunting or fairy lights; or give your space an instant seasonal refresh with pillows & throws in bright hues.
Pouffes or stools also make versatile impromptu seating and can easily be used indoors or out.
- Adorn your table with fun serving trays for a great way to break up the serving space; plus it also makes drinks and snacks much more portable in case something needs a refill.
On the Bar:
Gin & Mint Fizz—add a little lemon juice and elderflower pressé for the perfect spring cool-down.
Beer with fruity infusions—many companies offer beer brewed with refreshing flavours including raspberry, rhubarb, apple & more.Sparkling
Rosemary Limeade—this drink puts a modern twist on a childhood favourite while offering a tasty non-alcoholic option for guests. Why not serve with a floral garnish?
On the Menu:
Crisp Tasting—a great way to put an original twist on a favourite snack, simply pour a flavourful variety of potato, sweet potato, beetroot & other crisps onto serving towers for a spread that is sure to turn heads.
Prosciutto-Wrapped Scallops—served with a chive garnish and aioli, these tasty morsels are a no-fuss way to make sure your guests come back for seconds…and thirds and fourths!
Springy Skewers—customise BBQ skewers with your favourite combinations of meat, fish & veggies (may we suggest cherry tomatoes, mini crab cakes & Portobello mushrooms?) then serve with artichoke dip for a light & delicious way to greet warmer weather.
Lemon Ice Cream Cake Bites—ready to serve in just 20 minutes, this sweet & tangy treat can be served on individual frozen spoons or in a bowl with fresh raspberries to complete the warm-weather vibe.
- The addition of funky & colourful glassware to your table setting will really bring the celebration into full-spring.
