How Are We Barbecuing?

It might not surprise you that gas BBQs are rated the most popular type of grill across all three locations. Thanks to their efficiency, easy of use and ability to cook the perfect burger, gas grills take the top spot, leaving electric BBQs lagging behind in last place.

What is surprising however is that charcoal grills seem to have a growing fan base, especially in the UK. Could it be down to their ability to add an authentic smoky BBQ flavour? Or for their pleasing design and aesthetics? Decide for yourself by taking a look at our handy BBQ buying guide and discover which model is the best BBQ to buy.

When Are We Barbecuing?

Once a strictly summer activity, BBQing has become a regular occurrence in the US with more than half of Americans surveyed admitting to grilling all year round, with Germans even suggesting that they BBQ during winter! And us Brits aren't far behind. Whilst many of us wait for the opportune weekend (hello sunny weather?) to dust off the barbecue, more and more Brits are opting to fire up the grill Monday through to Friday.

Where Are We Barbecuing?

From lakes to beaches and friend's backyards, Americans and Germans alike love any excuse to grill on the go. Here in the UK however, we prefer to set our barbecuing sights no further than our own gardens - social distancing down to a tee.

What Are We Barbecuing?

From authentic German sausages to traditional hamburgers and pork chops, meat remains the dominant dish on the grill. But as more and more of us take a global stand for vegetarian and vegan BBQ recipes, Brits have mixed feelings when it comes to opting for meat over alternatives like veggies and fish. Our list of easy BBQ recipes is set to please every kind of guest, just make sure you avoid any cross-contamination by using separate BBQ cookware and BBQ tools.

Different BBQ Style, Same BBQ Taste

Although it seems like the UK, US and Germany have very different views when it comes to how we BBQ, there are some aspects of grilling that just can't be changed. Slathering the 'universal sauce' known as ketchup all over your BBQ food, whether it be American style, German or British is something we all share. That, and popping the lid on a fresh, cold beer. Cheers.
