What Makes Textiles so Important in the Home?
Textiles really make a home feel more cosy and comfortable. A living room without any cushions, rugs and curtains seems just too clean to me. On top of that, they muffle noises. An apartment without any rugs and other textiles has a totally different acoustic.
How do you Combine so Many Different Textiles?
There's not really a rule. Everything's possible as long as you like it. I really like combining cushions in different colours, for instance. What's important is to not mix too many bold colours with lots of daring prints. Choose textiles in similar hues to create a harmonious look. Another important thing is to decide which item should stand out - If a rug features dominant colours and prints, then other textiles should stay in the background.
How can Textiles Change the Look of a Room?
Velvet and velour are glamorous and warm textiles, whereas linen and cotton are rather cool and create a summery feeling. The same goes for colours - they're warm and cool hues. Depending on the colours and textiles you choose, it makes a room feel warmer or cooler.
Textiles Create a Sense of Cosiness. How can we Integrate Them Into our Homes in Spring & Summer?
Go for flowing textiles such as light cotton and linen. Look out for different pastel colours with floral prints or nautical stripes which are just perfect for spring and summer.
How do you Combine Different Materials?
The secret is to just go ahead and try. However, striking materials such as copper, gold, marble and sequins should be used sparingly. Using too many of them can easily overload a space. Instead, arrange some of these luxe materials on a sideboard or use them in a row of cushions which in turn adds interest to any space.
