Reorganising the Kitchen
Reorganising your home (especially the kitchen) might seem daunting, but if you divide the room into sections, the task becomes much easier. Below we've listed the best way to tackle your kitchen.
- Reorganise your food storage containers. If you have any containers or lids that don't have a partner, throw them out.
- While you're at it, reorganise your pots and pans. Don't hesitate to donate pots or pans if you have multiple in the same size.
- Put cupboard staples like flour, pasta, cereals and beans into airtight containers that stack. You'll save space by unboxing and your cupboards will look great too.
- Take back your kitchen counter. When you have less items on display, it makes cleaning up easier. Place small appliances you don't use everyday, such as your blender or food processor, in cabinets or in the larder. The appliances will stay cleaner for longer by not collecting grease or dust while sitting out.
- Assess your spice rack situation. Arrange each spice alphabetically or by order of cuisine. If you want to save a bit of money, consider buying spices in bulk and placing them in jars. Just pop a label to the front and you're good to go.
- Organise that junk drawer. The secret is out – having a junk drawer is okay. Maximising its use is key. Take everything out and sort through it on a kitchen counter. Go back in and use drawer dividers to keep things neatly corralled.

Reorganising the Living Room
Between working on puzzles as a family and movie nights at home, your living room gets a lot of use. The biggest threat to disorganisation is clutter. Whenever anyone leaves the room, encourage them to start bringing empty cups, books and chargers with them. To get your everyone into the habit of reorganising your home, consider placing a small basket near the living room hall and putting items that need to go back to their home in the basket. When anyone leaves the room, they'll remember to take their belongings with them.
Aside from clutter, other things that take up a lot of space in our living rooms are the extra blankets and cushions. Rather than taking up space on shelves, invest in a couple of neutral-toned baskets. These baskets will blend in with the rest of the room and give you easy access to storing blankets and throw cushions. If you like country-style decor, use a blanket ladder instead – they are space-saving and look chic.
Invest in a console table or entertainment system that's made to last. We prefer TV stands with hidden shelves, that way you can seamlessly organise cables, games consoles and the Wi-Fi router. Consider a TV stand with adjustable shelving, that way you're able to change it up over time. This streamlined look will make it easier to relax as you won't be looking at endless cords and chargers.
One of the best parts of reorganising your home is getting a chance to refresh the bedrooms. Since we spend so much of our time in our bedrooms, whether for sleeping or dressing, it's important to make sure it stays organised. Invest in furniture that looks great and provides storage space. One of our top items is the bedroom bench. Tuck your extra blankets inside and use the surface as a spot to sit and put your shoes on.
Make the most out of every piece of furniture by investing in pieces that have built-in storage. For instance, a nightstand with drawers will give you more space to store bedtime must-haves than an end table would. If you're a big reader, take it a step further by opting for a headboard with built-in shelves.
Use under-bed bins to create storage in an unused space. Store your child's out of season clothing under the bed. Alternatively, you can create a gift-wrapping storage station under a guest bed.
Maximise your closet by using nontraditional pieces of furniture. We love bringing a bar cart into the closet to set up a place for hats and accessories. If you own a lot of coats, consider setting a freestanding coat rack in a walk-in closet. You'll be able to squeeze a little more room out of the closet by removing some of the bulkier items.
Use the walls in your bedrooms to display artwork and photos. It's tempting to just prop artwork up on a dresser or vanity, but it's important to keep the surface areas in your room as free as possible. If you need help organising the surface of a dresser or nightstand, consider using a decorative tray. You can easily pick the tray up and move it out of the way if need be.

Reorganising the Bathrooms
Bathrooms can be one of the trickiest parts of reorganising your home as they're often small and get a lot of foot traffic. Think purposefully about what you'd like to achieve in your bathroom: more storage? A designated spot to get ready?
If the storage in your bathroom is tripping you up, pull everything out from under the sink or from the linen closet and donate what you don't need. If you have a lot of people using one bathroom, consider rolling the towels to squeeze even more under the sink or on shelves.
Prioritise the items that you love and use every day. Put the beauty or cleaning products that you use most often front and centre. Even better, use a decorative tray to organise your daily go-to products. Your routine will feel more streamlined, and you'll set yourself up for success each morning. Use waterproof bins to organize makeup brushes, cleaning materials and extra bath products.
If you're looking to make the bathroom more efficient, an accent piece with storage will give you the functionality you need. A chest gives you added drawers and surface area for linens and bath products. An end table set up next to the shower can provide extra space for shower products, and you can use it as a place to set your e-reader or glass of wine while taking a bath. If you place an end table in the bathroom, make sure the surface is water-resistant.
