Staying Happy at Home With This Girl Can Organise

Getting that feel good factor right at home.

Dress Your Dining Table

Does your dining room give you that feel good factor? If that's a no then maybe this advice will help. I love having our dining table styled and laid out for dinner at the start of each day. It dresses the room, makes me happy and it’s one job that I’m not saving for later. It also encourages the family to dine together and converse at the table instead of sitting alone on the sofa with a plate on our laps... this really doesn't make me happy.

The Food Plan

Whenever you go to clean or empty your food cupboards and fridge-freezers, are you ever surprised at the amount of 'stuff' that’s inside? I complete a food cupboard inventory on a monthly basis and it works a dream. Not only does this prevent you from overbuying, it allows you to use everything inside your cupboards and never become let down by an expiry date.
There’s no need to panic and buy things that you might already have at home. The food plan will bring some clarity to your kitchen whilst allowing you to save money, be prepared and as the saying goes, waste not, want not…

Morning spent making the bed

Morning Routine

I look forward to making my bed first thing every morning and I see this as the first task of the day completed. I open the windows, let the fresh air into the bedroom and then enjoy plumping up the pillows, shaking the duvet, smoothing out the creases in the sheets and misting it all with some soothing aromatherapy linen spray. It makes me feel happy seeing this area in our bedroom looking so calm and inviting. And this makes a big difference to your wellbeing too, if you’ve had a bad day there’s no greater feeling than being welcomed home to a clean and freshly made bed. It really is one of life’s best feelings. Encourage your kids to make their own beds and praise them when they do, even if it’s not done to your standard, it'll become routine for them and before you know it, they’ve learnt a new life skill.

Creating Zones in Your Home

Whenever I’m feeling anxious or slightly worried about anything I naturally opt into ‘terminator scan’ mode around the house and look at ways to improve our home. It can be moving furniture around or simply re-styling areas into new zones... During self-isolation, our home has seen a few new zones created to keep us entertained, focused and stimulated. We now have a mini meditation meets gym area (a basket filled with a yoga mat and dumbbells) and mini school meets working from home trolley. After rummaging around our home and garage I managed to make do with what we had at home and create something special that will excite and motivate us to use daily.
