Krups

Krups history begings in 1846 in a forge in the town of Wald, near Solingen, in North Rhine-Westphalia. The owner, Josua Kortz has several friends working for him, including his nephew, Robert Krups. The latter's son, also called Robert, will turn the forge into an industrial company. In 1866 After transferring their operations to Solingen, Robert Krups (the second to bear the name) and four of his nine children quickly transforms the company into a renowned factory, delivering its products to Holland and Switzerland. In 1900 The Krups company quickly becomes one of Germany's leading manufacturers of scales and the positioning of Krups machines is already clearly defined by the company's constant quest for precision and technical perfection. In spite of the devastation wrought by the Second World War, the third generation of the Krups family (Fritz Krups and Dr Karl Körner) gambles on relaunching the company with barely thirty employees. The lawyer, Karl Körner, (Fritz Krups’ cousin) is adept at anticipating the needs of the post-war market. Fritz Krups, an experienced technician, quickly transforms a few original ideas into successful products. For 110 years, the family business devotes itself exclusively to the manufacture of scales (needle scales and platform scales) under the brand name "Krups Ideal": top quality appliances for private customers and the retail trade. In 1956, Krups launches the first electric coffee grinders. As proof of the consumer’s appetite for these new appliances, Krups sells 1 million of these grinders in their first year of manufacture. In 1959 creation of the famous "3-Mix" mixer. Practical and ingenious, this appliance takes Germany by storm and becomes the perfect symbol for the modern kitchen. At this time small domestic appliances make their first appearance in German kitchens. With the introduction of the electric motor, Krups becomes Germany’s pioneer in the market for electrical household appliances. The company makes full use of its expertise in the design and manufacture of “state-of-the-art” products. Since then Krups has conitnued to evolve make it's name as a coffee specialist helping achieve true 'perfect coffee' with full aroma at the touch of a button. Krups consists of high end, distinctive and individual products.
