As the pedal is pressed the two shells which from the lid will open, allowing a hands-free operation. The shells are edged with a rubber strip sealing in any odors. This product is a top-quality product thanks to its special features: its top opening closes noiselessly and seals off odors while the whole bin is operated through a sturdy pedal mechanism. Made from high-quality stainless steel, the bin comes with a fire-retardant galvanized steel inner liner.

I can't say enough about the workmanship and quality of this German-made product. It's made of heavy steel and it comes in so many unusual colors; the bold orange is exactly what I wanted for my kitchen. It fits a standard plastic grocery bag, so I don't have to buy trash bags to use in it. If I had to come up with a con, it would be that it's slightly inconvenient changing the bag because you have to lift off the entire can to get at the plastic insert. I love this product!. Lisa.
