Unfortunately having paid a DIY man to assemble my sideboard, it is faulty the drawers do not fit properly, very disappointed and upset because I really like it.

We really like the final appearance and function of the sideboard BUT: - I am fairly adept at DIY, I was an engineer before retiring but it took me over 5 HOURS to put this together. Firstly the package was almost too heavy to lift, especially off the floor. I had to cut the cardboard box open with a Stanley knife and remove the parts in situ. This could be a problem for some people. The construction of the drawers; the bottoms are just hardboard, there's a reinforcement bar that goes across underneath the middle made of VERY low grade chipboard. The force of the turnbuckle to lock crumbled the chipboard, resulting in the turnbuckle itself breaking (see photo), rendering it useless. I will mend with a metal bracket (as there was no spare) as it is not seen but I feel this is poor quality and lets the rest of the unit down. There's no adjustment to fine align the drawers. The door does have some adjustment but it's quite tricky. Generally, it's a very nice unit but, because the instructions are non-lingual, they could be very confusing for some people. You get EXACTLY the right number of screws and fittings so if you drop a screw or break a turnbuckle, good luck! The assembly manual is more like a small magazine at 26 pages! Would benefit from identification on the bags of screws etc. everything else is well identified with little stickers. For the price though, it's pretty good and the quality of the finish of the machining and finishing of edges etc is very good. Be aware though that the parts that look like solid wood are in fact veneered. Only the legs are made of thick veneered ply, all the rest is either mdf or chipboard.
