How easy was it to put together? The desk took an hour to set up, the instructions were straightforward. There was a lot of polystyrene!!! This made disposal very messy & bulky in the council restricted bin space, not a lot of recyclable materials apart from the cardboard outer. What's the desk like? The desk is surprisingly spacious yet highly functional, with the drafting easel giving ample room for drawing etc, and an accommodating table area to the right to hold reference materials or laptop for other work and projects. The design is thoroughly thought through with functionality as well as aesthetics, demonstrated with the area behind the drawing easel which easily accommodates pencil pots and necessary accessories for any activity requiring the easel function. The fact that the easel integrates with the desk space shows that this desk is not a gimmick of nostalgia in the slightest but rather a functional, practical and enjoyable piece of furniture which augments a room's visual and usable space. Regarding the shelving space underneath the tabletop, it is a great use of an often overlooked part of the desk, yet there is still ample leg room. There was a concern for the lack of a drawer in the unit but having assembled and put the desk to use, the undershelving really makes up for the lack of a "clutter collector" feature.
