Latrobe Bookcase

I expected better quality for the cost. The item comes in 3 cartons. 1 arrived earlier than the other 2 - I suspect they got lost. Once they turned up, the packaging was slightly damaged and had been repaired by the courier. The item could have been better protected as a number of panels were slightly damaged/crushed. Fortunately most are out of sight except for one on the front (see photo). Assembly took longer than the 90mins. The unit can be assembled with the door on the opposite end but that does mean you need to drill holes for the cupboard door. There are pilot holes so it’s not too difficult. The panels are not labelled - you’ll have to measure them to work out which ones are which - not ideal. I would have liked the unit to be 20-30cm taller but I knew the height was on the smaller end when I bought it.

Smaller than I thought it was going to be but design is good. Up close the quality of the laminate is quite cheap for the price but it does look better quality. Fairly straightforward to put together, I did it singlehandedly over a few hours/days. The only thing I didn't like was that you need to get a drill out to put the handle on the large door, if the handle were middle hung (rather than offset) this wouldn't be required.

Instructions are not clear but having put the desk together first we had a better idea of what they meant. Still had to redial some holes as they didn't line up. Sturdy book case.

Solid stylish piece of furniture.

A stylish cabinet but I consider it overpriced for what is laminated furniture. It is probably the worst self assembly we have put together. Parts were not labelled on the item, the instructions were only diagrams and no written instructions. The metal frame had to be held apart using a home made wood brace to line up the fittings. It was not the same measurement all the way down and not all of the screws went flush.

Looks ok, but some difficulty in putting it together. Screws not always going in easily, very frustrating. Plans not totally clear, maybe put a sticker on parts to identify them.
