Wow, this is huge! I love it! It would break your ties it you dropped it and it is very heavy, but I’m going to keep it on the same place on my kitchen counter so that’s fine. I think if someone had arthritis in their wrists or hands then a smaller model would be better. It makes me feel like I’m in an episode of The Flintstones! As well as crushing spices, there is loads of room for making pastes or guacamole. It’s worth noting that you have to ‘season’ it. A previous purchaser write this on their review and really the manufacturer should include this. Because it is not polished granite, you have to season it otherwise you would be getting tiny bits of powdered granite in your food. So all you do is crush some white (uncooked!) rice in it and then rinse. Let dry and then do a few more times. When the crushed rice stays completely white then it’s done. Having it unpolished means that the texture aids in the crushing.

I have always wanted a good sized Mortar and pestle - couldn’t find one which was pocket friendly . Atlast found one I’ve always looked out for - quite well priced. Nice size to help with day to day cooking. Good quality - easy to wash after use. Looks good on the kitchen counter. Would definitely recommend this

Horrible smell comes from it. Can’t get rid of it.
