Before and After: A Bright, Open Living Room

No renovations required.

For a bright and easy living room refresh take inspiration from this space, proving that just a few small swaps can really make a difference. Although this space was cosy, the beige walls made it darker and the wooden bookcase and plush armchair weighed down the corners of the room. The low TV stand also lacked valuable storage space.

Before

After

To brighten up the room, the walls have been painted white and the wooden floor has been transformed by adding a patterned grey rug. By swapping over the bookcase for wall-mounted shelves and replacing the upholstered chair with a slim wood-framed version, the space has opened up and made room for plants and artwork. Although the sofa remains the same, the colourful pillows and glossy-topped coffee table really give the seating area a fresh, new look.

Opposite the sofa, a tall TV stand that spans the wall comes with plenty of cabinet storage and shelf space. A light wooden writing desk and modern white chair create the perfect small work area and the mirror above reflects light creating the illusion of even more space.
