Add These Finishing Touches to Your Sideboard

A Clean Slate

Before attempting a sideboard makeover, you'll want to begin with a blank canvas, so be sure to remove everything from the sideboard's surface as well as anything from the wall behind. Bring your new chest or sideboard look together with a rug or some furniture flanking either side. A rug is a great way to tie everything together if you've got a certain colour theme and helps to draw attention to your focal point piece. Large potted plants or short shelves on one or both sides of your piece will also help to draw attention towards your beautifully styled sideboard.

Choose three complementary pieces with varying heights (for instance a mirror, a lamp and an art piece) and there you have it, a simple yet stylish vignette.
