Are Your Towels Up to the Task?

White, Egyptian quality cotton is a popular option and never really goes out of style. They make for impressive guest bathroom linen. Soft, or Textured?

Like pillows, mattresses and other furnishings that you use often, you're bound to have an opinion as to whether you like it soft and fluffy, or less so. Soft fabrics feel great on the skin, but can be less effective at cleaning and drying you off. Store-fresh softness may diminish after a few washes if you don't follow the washing instructions. They can, however, make great hand towels. Alternatively, loose-thread towels can be less luxurious but are better for smoothing and drying the skin. These products tend to keep their quality for longer too. When it comes to beach towels, picking a thinner material can mean they're lighter to pack, easier to carry and dry faster.

Washing Advice

Towels, as you might expect, are usually machine washable, and should be washed after every third use, on average. Hot washes are recommended for towels that are frequently used. Although this can cause bright colours and patterns to fade. If you've purchased a colourful towel, it's recommended that you do a quick spot wash to check for colourfastness. You don't want the fabric dye to bleed out onto the rest of your laundry. Of course, white towels should always be put in with other white items to keep them fresh, bright and to prevent them from going gray.
