The bed is made of soft wood. I anticipated some level of softness, but this takes it to a whole new level. It feels flimsy, and I'm seriously questioning its longevity. The bed came with a mattress that was a mismatch. The product description doesn't state that it accommodates a 90 x 190 x 9 cm mattress, it had a height that's about half of what was needed.
