In my case, that's what I intended to do, but keep in mind this kitchen is only 3 feet tall. My three year old is just tall enough to reach the top of it. It is made out of wood and has no electric parts to it whatsoever. I don't like toys that have batteries because of the noise level and constant battery change. It comes with some accessories like a pot, pan, shakers, spatula, etc. The instructions were very informative and easy to follow. It took about 15-20 minutes to put it together. I’m so impressed with this little kitchen! I was a little nervous from the reviews that said assembly was daunting, but I didn’t have any issues. Took about two hours solo and was very easy to follow, just tedious. The quality far exceeded my expectations, and my 18mo daughter LOVES it! If I could make one small nit, it would be that the labels used for the parts are not easy-to-remove stickers, and they leave behind adhesive, so that’s an annoying extra step.
