Trying to put this together with a standard hand screwdriver would be a real challenge—using a power drill is practically essential to get through the setup smoothly. She spends a lot of time in her kitchen preparing meals for the family. I love the kitchen also. It is the perfect size for the house and it is well constructed. It is made of fairly thin wood but once assembled it is very strong. Assembly was a breeze, using the very simple, easy to follow instructions. All the parts fit together perfectly and really liked how the fasteners were packaged separately and labeled. The only problem is the salt shaker is somewhat rounded on the bottom so it doesn’t sit flat on the shelf. Also one of the screw holes was stripped out and the screw would not tighten. I initially thought my daughter would be the only one interested in it, but as soon as we set it up, my 8 and 9 year old sons started playing too. The size is geared toward toddlers, as it’s not very tall, but my kids don’t seem to mind at all. They did mention that they wished it came with more food items, but they wound up incorporating other food playsets they have with it. The set is of great quality and very sturdy. I love that the colors are lighter than typical bright toys, so it looks nice in any room.
