As this is my first tree of this type, I didn't realise "pre-lit" simply means the strings of lights are just wrapped around the tree sections, pretty much exactly as you would do yourself! But if this is the way it is for all pre-lit trees, It's no reflection on the quality of this one, which is very good. I chose this particular model because it has 400 lights and lots of tips, much more of both than many I looked at on Wayfair and other websites. If you're comparing trees, please check these factors. The cheaper ones are much sparser in every way. Now that the tree is up, I'm really delighted with it. My only complaint is that the lights cable for the top section should be longer as it has further to travel to reach the transformer, hence one star removed, however it's certainly a wonderful bushy, full, brightly-lit Christmas tree for a reasonable price.
