Butcher Piece Bedroom Set

The chest of drawers and bedside tables are great. Took a fair bit of jiggerypokery to get drawers to hang vertically and run smoothly - precision and patience is the name of the game - but the wardrobe.....not so hot. To start with, we were sent a wrong box which was a pain but a replacement arrived very quickly so that was ok. But two issues. Firstly, the wood looks dull, rather drab, compared to the other items. Think crate rather than worked wood. I wonder if polish might make a difference - but I want it to look like the other things, not entirely different. Mulling. Secondly, the instructions and 2 things in particular it would be useful to know at an early stage, and not when you finally get it all together. One - the doors can go on both ways ie are symmetrical vertically. One way up - they open and overlap in a 'right hand' way, the other way up 'left handed'. We ended up with the latter which is a shame, but the thought of taking them off, turning them around and hoping they still fit perfectly....no thanks. We'll get used to it. The other thing: at a very early stage you need to put a piece of wood in the top front of the wardrobe, part of the frame. This has an additional piece already attached to it. No indication which way round this goes. We guessed. Turns out the 'extra bit' needs to be at the bottom (if you have this wardrobe you will see what I mean) as it holds the magnetic door closures. We discovered this too late and had to add our own 'extra bit'. So...the set is ok. Not as good as the dining furniture we got before which was great. But yes, functional. We moved the shelf inside to the top rather than the bottom which is convenient for us with no problem. Just....iffy instructions....and that rather lifeless wood. Shame. Almost 4 stars.
