178cm H x 122cm W Etagere Bookcase

We looked at bookshelves for a long time, trying to find the right style and size. The metal and wood combo is industrial and very sturdy. We're ordering a second bookcase for our spare room!

I bought this shelf, because the dimensions are exactly what we needed for our family room wall, and I love the modern farmhouse look of the metal wood. PROS - It is well-built and heavy. Assembly was simple and quick. The metal frame is attractive and looks fairly high-end (note that I mean the FRAME, not the wood). CONS - The wood shelves are a really terrible faux wood. You can tell from way across the room that they are just a bad fake, plastic wood print. They are thin and do not look real at all. They are also much lighter than the pictures. I would describe the color as a mix between light sand and a pistachio green (see photos). Overall, I still like the style of this shelf, and functionally, its well-built. I plan to buy some real wood planks to stain and replace the ugly laminate pieces. It was still worth buying, since I needed these particular dimensions, and I like the frame. Before buying, just be sure you understand what the laminate wood pieces are like.

CON: My partner insists I mention that the fasteners imbedded in the actual shelve pieces are of poor quality. They pull through the particle board when you tighten them at all. Aside from that, it hardly effects the use of the shelf at all. They're still fastened enough that the pieces won't slide to the left or right. And the weight from the items you put on the shelf will help hold everything together. It's cheap particle board but it looks nice enough and it's a great size to help take up visual space on your walls. It being made of cheaper particle board also means it's relatively light and easy to move around. My photo shows roughly 80 DVDs on a single shelf, and even more XBOX and PlayStation games on another. The height between the shelves is perfect for holding a lot of things without looking crammed in there.

Easy to out together, love the style, sturdy.

This item wasn't packaged very well for mail delivery. Several support bars had dents from shipping. I put it together anyway because returning it would have been more of a hassle. It seems okay for now, but I don't know if it will withstand a move; and besides, it should have been pristine on arrival.
