Genuinely had to revisit the listing to see if I'd bought the right chair - this seems sized for teens, not full adults. Gas lift function frequently fails, meaning I'm left slowing descending multiple times a day. 9 month update : I'm having to retighten several screws on a regular basis and they sometime simply fall straight out.

Long story short: Use it sensibly and infrequently and it will be fine for a good few years. The chair is a breeze to put together, it took me 5 minutes working alone. The base is good and sturdy and so is the piston. The handle action is simple and works as intended. The seat part of the chair is very light and the back is also very light as well as flexible. The back and seat are connected via the arms. 2 bolts through the bottom of each arm into the seat and 2 through the top of each arm into the back. You cannot put your weight on these arms. They are what they say: rests. If you try to push up with too much weight then I can see the back snapping. The fabric on the arms and seat is a bit scratchy and cheap, but looks fine enough and doesn't bother once you're doing whatever you're doing. Understand that this is a cheap chair that is comfortable and suited to non intensive use. I bought this for building models and for use whenever I use my video game steering wheel. This chair would not be suited to 8hrs a day full time in an office. The cushion would become uncomfortable and I'd imagine something would fail with 40hrs a weak of movement. I also wouldn't suggest it be given to kids or anyone with mobility issues. So if you want a chair on a budget that you'll use sensibly for up to 15hrs a week then this is perfect for you. If you need something sturdy or more durable I suggest you try something else.
