We reluctantly purchased the olive burl knowing it was made in Asia, only because it was the perfect size we needed and could find no other. I must say that its absolutely beautiful! Very elegant! Not one speck of particle board or press-board in it. All solid wood, with the oval support right under the table top made out of high quality furniture grade finished plywood... you can only see that its plywood if turned upside down. Historically American manufacturers used to use plywood in their oval tables too. We were leery because 10 years ago we had purchased two relatively expensive specialty corner cabinets made in China (not from Wayfair) which unexpectedly had many press-board components and were falling apart in a short time. We had promised ourselves never to buy furniture on line again. This piece has restored our confidence!!!
Regarding assembly: Our table came with a part list but no assembly instructions. The bottom shelf has pre-drilled holes but NOT the table legs where the bottom shelf attaches. So unless you are a do-it-yourself type, you might want to ask a handy person to put it together for you. This worked for me: I put the table on its side (on a cloth so not to scratch it), then used a bungee cord to pull loosely tightened legs together around the bottom shelf, next I centered a pre-drilled hole in bottom shelf one the leg laying against the floor, exerted downward pressure on the upwards side of the "bottom" shelf, and screwed it tight into the leg.... x 4. Had no problems at all.
