Nice looking and plenty of storage space

This is a really nifty piece of furniture. I love the design - it looks classic without being either boring or old-fashioned, and would fit aesthetically in most rooms. I adore how many drawers it has, too. I'm a sucker for lots of compartments, and this is almost perfect for me in that respect. For anyone wondering about the details of the inner drawers (inside the top, desk section), four of them are very shallow, but still handy for storing stamps or stickers. The other four inner drawers are a bit deeper, and could store erasers, standard pencil sharpeners, etc. The little cupboard in the middle is about as roomy as it looks, and I'll be able to store my wax stamps in there. The drawers in the main section are roomier than I expected, given that this is a small desk. For example, I can comfortably fit A4 pads in them (flat, of course) but without having to turn the pads around horizontally to get them in. They'll fit with their spines parallel to the side, if that makes sense. All the main drawers fit very well. In fact I had to take them all out in order to get the thing upstairs (and this was with my husband's help - this is a heavy piece of furniture) and they slid back in like a dream. The only reason I am giving this four stars rather than five is that of the eight mini-drawers in the top section, two of them aren't quite fixed together properly in the desk I received. (This is at the back of the drawers in question, isn't visible from the front, and doesn't seem to affect the movement of the drawers. If I hadn't removed every removable drawer in order to get the desk upstairs, I probably wouldn't have noticed). It's a 2mm gap in both cases, and can probably be fixed with decent wood glue. One warning: It is on the small side in terms of height, something that will work for some but not for others. The measurements given in the description at the time I write this review are accurate, so do as I did and break out a tape measure before you order. (I have to agree with reviewer Frank from Dunoon). All in all, this is a lovely bureau, and for the price (I paid £489 for mine) as good as you're likely to get. I love the design, both practically and aesthetically, and it's a pretty sturdy, well-made piece of furniture. I think I'm going to be enjoying mine for many years to come.

Lovely bit of furniture. Always wanted one and this fits the bill. Buyers should realise that there is only one driver delivering so if you live upstairs as I do you are left with a dilemma as to how to get furniture to your living quarters.

Very disappointed! We thought it was a larger piece of furniture but it looked like a child's desk when it arrived. Really hoped it wood have been larger
