Improvements need to be made in the engineering of this product, as well as the assembly instructions. As noted in the photograph, a 1/4" spacer was required to compensate for the distance between the bottom of the shelf, and the bracket, which, was attached using your pre-drilled pilot holes. Also, I suggest your that the pilot holes be drilled with a larger drill bit.

It’s the right height, width, and style for our living room. We bought two so assembly took twice the time but they weren’t too difficult to put together. They are sturdy and the quality seems decent. For the price they’re worth it.
