We originally wanted a Japanese style mattress but, it's quite expensive and storing it won't be as easy so we bought this mattress (double) and use it on the rug. The mattress is firm and we have slept fine on it. Not recommended for those that like softer mattresses but good for the back! I would give it 3. 5 out of 5 but it's not in the option so I am giving it a 4.
