Extremely disappointed. I've had items from Wayfair before. They were good quality. This looks and feels cheap, nasty, similar to balsa wood. Some of the dowel holes do not align. There are no prefilled holes for joining the units together, even though it was sold as a unit. There are gaps in places. Spots of the fake wood effect paint are missing, showing pale wood beneath. I was looking for a very large bookcase for my newly renovated home office and this looked lovely. I was disappointed that wayfair only told me after I ordered and paid in full that it was out of stock and was in “backorder”. Took almost 3 months to arrive! It is not easy to out together. Parts look very similar and none are labelled! So far we have spent 3 hours assembling just 1/3rd of it and we are fairly experienced with DIY. I was looking for a unit to house all my books, CD's DVD's, old fashioned cassettes and vinyl collection from years ago. This unit proved ideal and is really great value,I did assemble it on my own but would have been a lot easier with two mainly due to weight height and length. Once assembled I gave it 3 coats of Danish Finishing Oil to give it a rich honey effect and bring out the pine characteristics. The instructions need to be a bit more specific with regard to fitting extension modules that are going to have doors and draws incorporated as facias require to be put on the correct way up for door runner and hinge attachment and height. Two of the door hinges were faulty but customer services soon ordered replacements which arrived in about 8 days. I would give it 4 stars (would have been 5 except for faulty hinges). Paul. Duns, GB. Great design and solid build. I wish there had been a note on the specs to show that the trim on the vertical boards means there is a recess in the shelves. This stylish, contemporary freestanding bookshelf is an eye-catching addition to a modern home. It has contrasting lacquer and wood grain finishes and includes six shelves. It is an ideal place to store and display books, toys, décor items, and much more.

This tall bookcase is very heavy and it requires two people to assemble it, preferably at least one with some carpentry experience. There were so many components, and the assembly instructions were not crystal clear (in fact there was an error in one diagram). If only it had been explained that the top and bottom blocks were subtly different - extra holes pre-drilled into the bottom block to screw in the feet! When we realised we'd got them on the wrong way round the bookcase was almost fully assembled, and it was too late to go back. But this is a smart looking bookcase, and it perfectly fills a gap in my hallway, as you can see from the photo. It's not quite finished yet. To prevent the bookcase toppling over, it must be fastened to the wall behind it. I am waiting for my carpenter friend to come back and fix this for me, he has a device to check that we won't be drilling into a cable.
