Although Chinese cabinets would sometimes contain small drawers on the inside, the Chinese did not use chests of drawers for storing clothes as we do today. Our oriental style chest of drawers is therefore not strictly a Ming design, but we like to think that it is in keeping with the ethos of that time. The simple design, including an apron stretching across the bottom that is typically seen on Ming period furniture, gives it a contemporary look that still has more than a hint of Chinese style.

Warm Elm

A wider, deeper version of our Ming Chest of Drawers, with two full-width drawers and two smaller drawers at the top. Chests of drawers are a western invention rather than Chinese, as it was usual to store furniture in either cabinets or trunks, but the style of our chests is similar to cabinets from the time, and perfectly matches our own classical Chinese range. The drawers are mounted on metal runners for smooth opening and closing.

This 16 Drawer Chest is made from poplar wood and has a dark, chocolate colour finish. With 16 small drawers and two half-width drawers, it is perfect for storing underwear, socks, and accessories in a bedroom.

Handcrafted in traditional Chinese style, this solid elm wood chest is ideal for keeping your kitchen or dining room clutter-free.

This piece takes its design from the multi drawer chests used by Chinese apothecaries to hold their herbs and medicines. The twelve small drawers on this version are slightly larger than on most originals, each perfectly sized for CDs. Two larger drawers at the bottom provide further storage. Handcrafted from reclaimed elm wood with a natural 'rustic elm' finish.

The pure, minimal style of this chest of drawers shows off the beautiful, pronounced grain of the elm wood to maximum effect. Three deep, full width drawers and two smaller drawers above provide plenty of storage in the bedroom, with our simple, blackened brass handles adding the only decorative element to the design. As with other pieces in the range, the chest is made in a traditional frame and panel construction with an extended lid.
