Black Lacquer

Although Chinese cabinets would sometimes contain small drawers on the inside, the Chinese did not use chests of drawers for storing clothes as we do today. Our oriental style chest of drawers is therefore not strictly a Ming design, but we like to think that it is in keeping with the ethos of that time. The simple design, including an apron stretching across the bottom that is typically seen on Ming period furniture, gives it a contemporary look that still has more than a hint of Chinese style.

Built by master craftsmen from strong oak, with dovetail joints and tongue and groove backs and bases, this chest of drawers is built to last.

Ideal for smaller rooms, where space-saving and storage options are essential, this fully assembled tallboy offers six generously sized drawers, each fitted with brushed steel handles and crafted using dovetail joints, for ease of opening and quick access to your belongings. This unit has been crafted from sturdy, long-lasting solid oak and features real oak veneer. The surface of the wood is coated in a natural lacquer, which serves to both protect the wood from light knocks bumps and scratches whilst enhancing the natural colouring and patterns of the light oak through a sheer gloss coating. The natural browns and golds of the light oak are amplified to showcase the naturally calming and relaxing tones and to complement any light or neutral colour scheme and palette. The combi chest is made of natural pine wood. The furniture has six drawers and two closed shelves, which makes it very roomy. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and careful workmanship, the chest of drawers is very durable. Similar to other products from this series, it is dominated by a natural wood pattern. Discolouration and different shades on the drawer fronts are the greatest decoration. The individual elements are arranged both vertically and horizontally, which further emphasizes the whole effect.

A wider, deeper version of our Ming Chest of Drawers, with two full-width drawers and two smaller drawers at the top. Chests of drawers are a western invention rather than Chinese, as it was usual to store furniture in either cabinets or trunks, but the style of our chests is similar to cabinets from the time, and perfectly matches our own classical Chinese range. The drawers are mounted on metal runners for smooth opening and closing.
