Stools developed for seating in Chinese homes from as early as the Tang dynasty and were used by all classes throughout China. Rattan top and 'waisted' style, a popular design during the Ming dynasty and was also common in Chinese tables of the same period. It works perfectly both for seating and as a bedside or occasional table.
