This is unlike many other extension tables where the panels have to be mounted on the ends of the table where there is little support, which can cause the arms of the panels to weaken and break. This table has a lacquered finish to ensure all year round protection. There's no need to apply oil to this oak as the lacquer seals the wood and protects it from drying out. So far very happy with this quite unique but also very expensive table. It is solidly made, so solid that I was needed to help unload it as the delivery driver and his mate could not manage it on their own. The top is very heavy. It was missing the four bolts that attach the table to the base but the weight of the top means it isn’t going anywhere soon. Some care instructions would have been helpful.
