They look good in our space. Perfect size for our queen bed. Like the clean design, but didn’t realize the paint is a distressed white, and it’s not a bright white, more ivory next to our white duvet. The drawer also isn’t a soft close. Bought 2 of these cabinets because my new bed was way too high for my old ones. I have quite a lot of black chinese furniture, some original and some, like these modern. These are really good quality and the lacquer finish is much shinier than most modern pieces and shinier than they look on the website. They are also sunstantially cheaper than other I've seen. For the Chinese, the butterfly is a symbol of joy and happiness, and particularly of marital bliss. This is why it was often used as decoration on Chinese bedroom furniture such as on wedding cabinets and chests that a bride would bring with her to marriage. Although these bedside drawers seem more modern in design, the butterfly handles are highly appropriate and match the handles on our Large Sloping Cabinet. The tapered style is also similar and, although historically bedside drawers like these were not used by the Chinese, the round-cornered sloping frame is a reminder of Chinese cabinet design from hundreds of years ago.
