If, like me, you hate Allen keys, then you won't enjoy putting this beast together. It is unquestionably a two-person job, and you need a lot of floor space to work in. However, the finished article is well worth the trouble - it looks good, and you can store a formidable amount of clothing in it. Being a reasonably competent DIY individual, I ditched the grotty metal handles that came with the unit, and substituted nice-looking light oak ones instead. Result? Unfortunately we would not recommend this product. The instructions are very misleading. They claim that the wardrobe will take 1 hour to construct if 2 people are working on it. It took us 2 days (5-6 hours each day). We are no strangers to flat pack however this was on a different level. The wardrobe was delivered in 3 boxes, each with many parts, none of which were labelled. With over 50 different parts, it was near impossible to determine which piece was which. Then came construction. However, piece 1 (a large side section of the wardrobe) was around 1 cm larger than piece 2. Therefore they did not marry up where the dowels were. We contacted Wayfair who put us in touch with the manufacturer. They were unable to send us a spare part so offered us a discount instead to keep the faulty product. We had to cut the wood down and drill new dowel holes. We did not know then, that this would be the first of many ‘fixes’ we had to make to this faulty product. Several pre-drilled holes were in the wrong places or did not exist, leaving us to guess where shelves were supposed to be placed. Now we have finally constructed the wardrobe, we are unhappy with the overall finish. Material The pine furniture in our collections is FSC-certified and is treated in various ways. For instance, sanded pine is very smooth and tidy and brushed pine is known for its characteristic grain pattern and weathered appearance. For an even more robust look, pine wood is band sawn. Absolutely gorgeous piece of furniture! I have a couple of original 19th century French armoirs in exactly this style but they are not as well made or finished as the 1 door wardrobe.
