Warm Elm

This type of Chinese chair takes its name from its yoke-shaped top rail and is commonly found as far back as the Ming Dynasty. Its S-shaped curved backrest contrasts beautifully with the slightly splayed legs. It includes a carved Chinese dragon motif on the backrest, and a rattan inlaid seat for extra comfort. Part of the Hangzhou furniture range, handcrafted from reclaimed elmwood.

Black Lacquer

This Dining Chair was one of the first types of chair to emerge in China. The dragon motif is carved into the backrest and the classic shape and curves but augmented by exquisitely carved armrests. Slightly larger than the side chair, these armchairs look great in a bedroom or can be used at the head of our Dining Table for those extra special guests. Black Lacquer

The Chinese developed folding furniture very early on, with folding stools being recorded from the Han dynasty almost two thousand years ago. The folding armchair was particularly common during the Ming dynasty and was made either for traveling or for easy storage. Our version is a very accurate reproduction of antique Chinese chairs from that time and is carved entirely by hand. The main carving on the backrest depicts a Kylin (a Chinese unicorn), while above is a coiled dragon inside a 'ruyi' shaped medallion - a symbol of prosperity. The seat is woven, while the chair is fitted with decorative mounts. The carved footrest also includes decoration. Made of reclaimed elm, this large chair is beautifully created and will add a wow factor to any room.
