This ottoman storage bed is available in three different quality fabric finishes. The bed features a durable steel framework with quality, hardwearing, and 8 plies poplar sprung slats. The sprung slats increase comfort whilst also increasing the mattress's life span. It has a classic buttoned headboard with padding for added comfort when sitting up in bed. You can choose from textured linen, sumptuous plush velvet, or glitzy crushed velvet. This ottoman bed features quality gas lift pistons and a large storage area that can be easily accessed by enabling a large variety of items to be tidily stored away. The mechanism is set for side opening and can be constructed for either side to open. The base is covered with a black fabric cloth so that the stored items are not in contact with the floor. It is suitable for use with all standard UK-size mattresses. The bed meets all UK FR and safety standards. It is supplied in flat-pack for self-assembly, with an approximate build time of 60-90 minutes.
The bed assembly is not too bad, there are a couple of things to pay attention to and sometimes you need to figure it out on your own (corner pieces for the slats frame are painted and the unpainted ones assemble with the corner of the bed frame). Some miss alignment issues with the frame (nothing major, around 5mm off). I have a large double bed mattress but it doesn't fully cover the top portion, so keep that in mind when getting the double bed version. The cover material looks like easy to clean, it is not particularly nice to the touch, so do not expect velvet kind of feel. The cushioning on the back panel is very minimal, so make sure you use pillows to soften it when seating up.
I also had an issue with very tight screws for the Gas Struts, you need to undo these to assemble the gas struts into the correct position, the provided tool within the package is made of cheap material so it get's bent when trying to use it to undo these. So make sure you have some additional tools available (hex nut bit).
The bottom is not solid, it is cloth.
Also you have to install the feet, otherwise the middle support section will protrude and make the bed unusable (it has to be lifted in order to sit flush on the inner support structure).
Otherwise, for the price, I would say you cannot do much better than this.
It is not a high quality bed, but then again for around £280 you should not expect that.
When assembled it doesn't make any noises as such so it is solid.
If you want a better type of bed, I would advise to spend over £400 on a different brand (there is a bespoke bed maker in the UK that makes beds from solid wood).
The mechanism for lifting is smooth and seems really good so far.
I have yet to install the gas strut's (need tools to undo the nut as it is tightened really hard), lifting without them is difficult.. Anonymous. Woking, GB. Thu Mar 18 2021
