Not rattan just patterned plastic. Self assembly hard work . Chairs come as one weird flat pack for back and sides which has to be forced round to be joined by a pelmet piece before adding seat. Once assembled reasonably comfortable but we are quite small. Seat pads grey not cream as illustrated. Generally OK but not quite what we were expecting
