Lovely bench shame about the damage

This bench arrived well ahead of expectation, in excellent condition, and is as good-looking as I found it on the website. The instruction diagrams would have been clear, had they not been so tiny: I had reached the final tightening-of-screws stage when it occurred to me that possibly I might have put the washers in the wrong place... Fortunately the manufacturer's name was on the box, so I was able to find the diagram on their website and blow it up to a reasonable size, and correct my error. However, my major disappointment is with the discovery from the instructions, which (unlike Wayfair's website) state clearly that the bench should NOT be left out all year, and there is a WHOLE PAGE of instructions on how to protect and treat it. Since there is no likelihood of my bench being removed to indoors, I had been encouraged by the Wayfair reference to epoxy coating to assume that it would require little maintenance. Not so. "To prevent the appearance of rust, our steel furniture is delivered original (sic) with an Epoxy treatment. However this layer gradually disappears under the effect of external elements and must be renewed regularly..." (Just a few lines from the page.) My original intention had been to buy an aluminium bench, to avoid any maintenance or removal problems, but I was fooled by the epoxy coating - and lack of any mention of winter quarters or maintenance - to buy this bench instead because it is a pleasing shape. I regret this purchase.
