The soldering job on the 12v plug wires is very shoddy workmanship I have had to resolder them a few times. Now the 12v plug casing is starting to fall apart. There is not an easy way to replace the plug and power cord. Which they don't have a a replacement part. I have had mine for about a year now.

First of all I want to say Do not by Road pro products for any reason at any time, they are horrible from their cbs2 the refrigerators to their tools everything they make is complete and other junk so do not buy anything from RoadPro. Also they try and trick you into doing business with them by giving you some useless $10 Visa card that you cannot use anywhere not online or not in the store. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, this koolatron cooler is the best one ever. I've been driving for 20 years as a long-haul truck driver, and I have tried many of these. The only one that consistently performs well is the koolatron and this particular size seems to be easy to Lug around in and out of the truck, the design is ex to keep by the seat while you are driving and it's easy to get to. I had one that lasted almost 10 years and the plug in part finally quit on me and I did not feel like buying a new end. Otherwise it probably would have lasted another 10 years because you must periodically, a couple of times a month, blow out the mechanism and motor with a compressor to blow all the dirt and dust out of it. As long as you keep the dust and the dirt out of the moving Parts with the compressor, it will last you forever and it does a great job. I will say that the hinges broke shortly after I got it, but the company was nice enough to send me some new hinges. I eventually just ended up using it without the hinges because they broke too. The handle is kind of flimsy and you do have to attach it from time to time but as far as keeping things cold and a convenience and moving it around and lugging it from place to place, there is no other that is better. Some of them are too big to keep everything cold and too big to Lug around. Some of them are too small to really put anything in. This one is perfect. And I am speaking from 20 years of experience with these types of coolers.

I have had mine for several years without issue. Only used sparingly (i.e. once or twice a year). Anything that goes in cold will stay cold. Anything frozen will stay frozen for an extended period even without ice packs or being plugged. It will NOT take something warm and cool it down. Very well insulated. Two minor issues. The cooling mechanism is in the lid and protrudes into the storage cavity so reducing overall capacity. It has a long cord, which is good, but also a bit of a hassle to jam into the small compartment built for its storage.

Bought today and lid could not be installed as slots for hinge tabs were full of plastic flash on one side. Took over an hour of prying with a knife before I could install the lid. If you buy one check in the store, could not be done here as it was a mail order item.

Bought one years ago and have taken it on cross country trips multiple times. It works great, but the handle has come apart and have to be careful taking it from the car to our home or hotel.
