I wanted an inexpensive and unobtrusive fire pit for my small garden to help me tackle my garden waste and keep me & my friends warm on chillier evenings so we can enjoy the garden for longer, and this little beauty ticks all the boxes very well. For the price, the BBQ shelf is also a nice bonus!
It arrived on the specified day & time, in perfect condition and all the bits present and correct.
Really easy to set up - no assembly needed. The legs fold out from underneath by pulling a pin out then folding them down, then the log grate pops in the bottom of the pit and away you go!
It's had its first use, and once we got the flames going we managed to burn through a good chunk of the branches and twigs from my spring pruning, and then enjoyed the warming effect from the embers.
Once cooled, the next morning I emptied the ashes into my compost heap so zero waste, which is another big win for me!
The pit didn't look too worse for the wear after emptying. I gave it a cursory little wipe with a damp cloth. It would need a bit more of a scrub to get it really clean, but I didn't feel it necessary.
I'm also thrilled that once the legs are folded away it nestles comfortably under my patio table, so I can keep it protected from the elements! (I'd hoped it would, but didn't actually measure it lol). It is nice and compact anyway, for more long term storage, which was another must-have for me.
I haven't attempted to BBQ on it yet, or burned commercial charcoal or wood, only garden waste so far, so I don't know how economic (or not?!) it will be on fuel, and durability is still TBD as the summer progresses and it gets used more frequently, but as long as it's protected from the worst of the weather and not left with ashes sitting in it indefinitely I'm optimistic that it will last well.
I'm very happy with my little fire pit, and for such a low price, if I can get even a couple of summers' use out of it then I consider that great value for the money.
