Constructed from a sturdy steel frame, wrapped in PE rattan, the frame is UV and weather resistant so shouldn't fade. The cushions are splash proof (so if any spills occur, pick up the cushion and give it a firm pat on the underside to encourage the droplets to roll off). I am so, so happy with my hammock its just beautiful and a real talking point. We have a rarely used attic room so have put ours indoors in there to create a reading space.
