A Little Touch of the Côte d’Azur Our new umbrella was shading six people within half an hour of being delivered and it immediately made the garden feel ready for summer. We chose this unusually large rectangular design because it is perfectly shaped for our outdoor corner sofa. It provides approximately four metres of coverage, comfortably shading the whole seating area rather than leaving people constantly moving their chairs to escape the sun. It would work equally well over a large outdoor dining table. Assembly was remarkably straightforward, and we were using it within 30 minutes of its arrival. Opening and closing it is just as simple the crank mechanism operates smoothly and worked perfectly from the outset. The included sand-and-water base gives the umbrella a reassuringly solid foundation, and it has felt extremely sturdy in the light wind we have experienced so far. The golden-yellow canopy is the real highlight. Against the green of the garden, it brings to mind the sun-soaked terraces of the South of France and gives the entire space a warm Côte d’Azur atmosphere. As the photographs show, it is bold without overwhelming the garden, making our seating area look considerably more stylish. It is still very new, so I cannot yet comment on long-term durability. My only small preference would be for more natural or organic materials, although the existing construction feels sturdy and practical. With a straight pole and an octagonal canvas, the parasol is elegant and timeless. It is easy to handle thanks to its anti-reverse crank handle. Very practical, it will light up your evenings with its integrated LED lighting system. The circuit is hidden, the switch can be found on the crank module which also has a compartment for the batteries (supplied). The solar panel on the top of the parasol recharges the battery. The canopy awning allows air to circulate and prevents the parasol from being blown by the wind. The structure is made entirely of aluminium which guarantees a long lifespan. The canvas is made of polyester and is 200g/m2 thick to guarantee excellent shade. In addition, the parasol canopy has undergone a water-repellent treatment. The parasol is compatible with bases that can accommodate a 38mm centre pole. Please note that it is essential to use a base to ground this parasol. The base is not included with the parasol, it is sold separately.
