Teardrop in shape offers a larger cavity perfect for species of small garden birds who roost together. Offering a cosy place to roost during harsh winter months, plus in springtime, small birds may use this product as a nest. The fair trade bird nester has a sturdy inner frame for support. Attached hooks at the rear and a long loop at the top ensure you can fasten the nester securely. As a result, these make it easier to site in the natural leaf cover and vegetation of ivy, bushes, trees, or hedges. The nester has a small round entrance reinforced with steel. It is also slightly protruding to make it easy for birds to land and perch on. Position the bird nester in a sheltered space to keep out harsh weather. The Artisan Insect & Bee Hotels are made from recycled saris and are Fair-Trade products that help the disadvantaged women in Bangladesh who make them by hand. Bee Nesters are of course more familiar to us with our Artisan range, and we just had to bring these stunning nesters to the market. Not only do they make a colourful statement to any garden, they provide a safe habitat for solitary garden bees. Every bee nester is unique and individual in colour and just like the bird nesters that we have sold thousands of, every purchase of these new hanging planters and bee nesters helps fund families in Bangladesh out of poverty.

Reminiscent of New England beach huts, each house features real shingle roofs and lapboard sides and a silvered hole protector. Perfect for small bird species such as blue tits, coal tits, marsh tits etc and delightful addition to your garden. The nestbox is made from slow-seasoned FSC timber and maybe painted annually with matching water-based paints to maintain their appearance. The nestbox may be cleaned out of any old nesting material and disinfected with a suitable product such as Wildkleen outside of the breeding season (Sept to Feb). To open, swing the brass catch to the upright position and pivot the nestbox side, by opening at the bottom.

Ensuring the nest box can be used for multiple seasons, sometimes as a nesting spot for the same returning garden birds. Provides a safe and secure habitat for small birds to roost and nest from autumn through the winter to spring when they will look to have their young.Nesting is most likely during April and May, and in the event of chicks hatching, there will be frenetic feeding activity by the parent birds. InstallationThe nest box should be sited on a tree, wall or garden fitting at least 1.5m – 2.5m above the ground, preferably in a place where cats and predators cannot access it. The ideal aspect is facing east, SE and NE are also fine. The box should be left empty as wild birds will bring their own nest material into the box. MaintenanceWipe away any external dirt with a damp cloth, avoiding anything abrasive. The inside should be cleaned just before the end of September / prior to autumn once any fledglings have left.

This bat house is a single chamber quality nesting box for bats. These protected mammals have lost many roosts in recent years. This natural timber bat box will provide a roost for a variety of species. It will fit into any garden, woodland, or a house wall site. It is made from untreated solid, high quality, durable FSC certified timber which provides longevity and excellent insulation. Bats are very sensitive to smell and will be deterred by any treatments applied. The box is accessed by the bats through a narrow entrance slot at the base to prevent predation. The bat box should be sited high up between 2.5m and 5m on a building or mature tree using the pre-drilled back plate hanger. The ideal aspect is so the box receives only part sun during the day north, south-west or south-east. If it is on an existing feeding or flight route you are more likely to get the occupation. Bats are a schedule 1 protected species under the wildlife & countryside act. It is illegal for any member of the public to disturb a roost, handle or kill any bat. Bat boxes, therefore, may only be inspected by a licensed bat worker. However, you can monitor your bat box without disturbance, look for mouse-sized droppings beneath the box as a clue to occupation or observe from a distance at dusk to see if bats are exiting the box to hunt.

Very very heavy and well made but haven't yet found a suitable place for it. Too big to go where I had in mind for the robins and we have magpies so the big opening would make them a little nervous without cover. Nice looking birdhouse and well built.. Jane. The first and original ladybird tower was designed by us and much-copied ever since. Beware of facsimiles that don’t even have the hollow central core for the ladybirds to shelter in our ladybird towers ladybirds and other beneficial insects are made from naturally air-dried FSC-certified timber logs and the appearance may vary. Each tower is cleverly constructed to provide a hollow central chamber filled with straw to provide insulation and security for beneficial insects. Access to the central chamber is provided by paths drilled through the sides of the log. The central chamber is protected by the apex roof. The ladybird tower comes with a ground pole (fixed at the rear for transport). This allows the ladybird tower to be sited into lawns, sheltered flower beds, wooded glades, or even in planters. To encourage occupation of the tower by ladybirds you can smear ladybird food on the entrance holes. The slow-seasoned naturally durable timbers require no chemical preservatives that might deter the occupation of your ladybird tower.
It's just what I need I don't have a garden just a small balcony as I love wildlife I'm am doing my best to encourage them a safe haven this beautifully made ladybird house fits the purpose brilliant. Suzanne. London, GB. Fri Jul 09 2021
