HOLY MOLY this thing is ridiculous in the best way!!! It's the perfect answer for people like me who want the convenience of gas but the flavour of charcoal. OK, not *quite* 'charcoal' flavour - but rather the best smoke flavour I've ever achieved at home by a country mile - 100x better than a little smoker box on a regular gas burner!! This thing gets so hot internally it basically ATOMISES the wood chips so you get a TON of smoke which infuses so well with the food on the grill that it tastes like it's been slow roasted for a day!
It's also really easy to clean the grill as long as you do it after every session. Both the accessories and the hangers FOR the accessories (incl. the grill plate when you're just doing a roast/smoke) work really well. It's an excessively clever piece of design for a BBQ!!
There are cons, but not enough to drop under 5*. The first is I would NOT recommend if you generally do infrequent, large cook-outs. You won't get more than 6 burgers on the grill plate at a time, so you can't feed a large garden party on it all in one go - That said, you CAN get a whole bird or giant beef/pork/lamb joint in the cavity AND cook on the grill at the same time, so in that sense you COULD do a party in one go.
The other con is that for a BBQ it's a fiddly setup. Logical, but it does take a while. Oh, and if you're +6ft tall I'd put it on a couple of patio tiles to get some extra height. At almost 6ft it's as low as I can comfortably use.. Dmc. Brighton. Fri May 13 2022
