Attaching to the bottom of a large seed feeder by means of 4 hanging chains, this plastic tray will catch all the seeds and seed casings that are discarded or dropped as the birds feed. Helping to keep lawns or flowerbeds clear of debris, the tray also acts as a secondary feeding platform for birds. There are 4 small holes at the edge of the base to allow for water drainage. Simply hook the chains to the bottom lip of the feeder of your choosing and this simple yet elegant solution to dropped birdseed mess is ready to go. This hanging bird feeder comes complete with an integral squirrel baffle to try to stop them from getting at the bird food. I purchased this treadle feeder - It is expensive but you have to get the angle right for continuous feed which takes time and if that stalls there is the problem of damp mouldy feed. It is perfect for rodent problems and will last for years but will not work for small bantams as they will not trigger the weight and if you make it too sensitive the grain gets wet and eaten by rodents..
