Perched on the northern edge of County Antrim, Carrick-a-Rede is a tiny sliver of island and a long-held promise of adventure. For generations visitors have crossed the rope bridge that links the mainland to the rocky outcrop, stepping into wind, sea spray and a view that feels both intimate and immense. This travel poster celebrates that moment: the taut sway of the bridge, the carved cliffs, and the open Atlantic beyond.
The landscape here is uncompromising and generous in equal measure. Rocky fingers of basalt and sandstone fall away to meet restless water, while pockets of green cling to the headland like small, persistent lighthouses. From the right vantage point the sea becomes a patchwork of blue and slate; on a warm evening the light turns rock and grass to gold. The Causeway Coast has a particular mood - brisk, bracing and quietly romantic - and this print aims to hold that feeling in a hand-ready frame.
There is history in the crossing. Fisherfolk used this route to check nets and bring in salmon, and the bridge speaks of human ingenuity pinned against the elements. The experience of crossing is both a practical act and a small rite: a step into the wind, a glance back to where you came from, and a look forward to the view ahead. That sense of story - the everyday and the dramatic folded together - informs the poster's tone.
Culturally the area is woven into local life. Nearby villages and harbour towns carry the talk of sea and weather, of tides and tides' effect on livelihood. Birdlife and marine life add their own rhythm; on any day you might spot kittiwakes wheeling or fulmars riding thermals above the cliffs. The poster's composition leaves space for those small narratives: a distant islet, a ribbon of sea, the suggestion of a path worn by many footsteps.
